For a later square taper BB you need this piece:

The older one consists of several pieces and can be adjusted. The later one enables easier and faster instalment, but can't be serviced or adjusted.

Normally your bike should have the old style, unless replaced by new style at some point.
 
I just had another peak at it and did some interactive research. The BB is the original, and I reached more or less the same conclusion as the suggestions you offer. Price of the tools is tolerable, so of to the webshop I go. I´ll find one with a language I understand though :)

Thanks again, your help is invaluable, and I´m sorry to bother you/the forum with such amateur questions, but thus far it´s provided more insight then any of the ´professionals´ I´ve talked to :)
 
Rose is German originally. The Rose site is also available in German and English. Maybe there are similar shop in Norway. I do not know.
 
So a small update, bike is still in pieces, I´m doing a pretty thorough cleanup, quite happy with the result. The parts will always show wear and tear, but as long as they´re functioning I see no reason to replace them. Added some pics for your viewing pleasure.

I do have some troubles getting the smaller parts clean, and remove small spatters of surface rust. Specially inside the allen heads, any tips for that? Also, is there any place to get spares for these old mechs?

Good news is I found my spare set of wheels, so I now have a set of Ritchey Vantage Comp and a set of Ritchey Vantage Expert, both front wheels with XT hubs, the rear Comp with a DX hub, the Expert with an XT hub, so I´m going Comps with XTs once I find someone to rebild them for me.

A couple of recommendations also wanted; barends, want something smaller then the Harobar I was running, been looking at Onza ones. They need to be black, preferably short, any suggestions? Also tires. I´ve seen the blackwall hate on here, so to keep this kinda true to it´s origins any nice skinwalls out there?

Enough from me, I´ll give you an update later when things are coming together - literary.

For removing rust, especially inside allen heads, you could use WD-40, a toothbrush, wooden cocktail sticks, the sticks originally intended for ear cleaning and stuff like that.

Onza bar ends would be a good choice. Herbold used them too, so good match I would think.

I believe FirstFlight is doing reproductions of skinwall tyres. There will be NOS options available too in the marketplace.

It truly is a great looking project, and you have the right idea… keep it on the cheap, it alredy has a good grupo.

-Do a complete tear down, degrease, clean, and re-lube all bearings and mechs. (polish the shiny pieces)

-Clean, wax and touch up the frame, again, polish shiny pieces.

-Replace you cables, tubes, and you have the right idea for skin walls.

-Finally reassemble ride and send us all a picture. Those are nice bikes! I can’t wait to see it finished.

A tooth brush, steel wool, metal polish, wax, grease, beer and patience will be your best friend.

So...it´s finally done

After a long wait it´s finally done. Been a much longer process then I first thought, mainly because finding a wheelbuilder took quite a while. Basically I did a complete disassembly, cleaned and polished/waxed everything. Pedals got a new coat of satin black (any tips on how to get the white lettering back in?) Any piece of rust on the frame/forks was sanded off, the bare metal then touched up with a few layers of clearcoat.
