Yup, anyone running any make of cranks with the tapered hole orientated this way needs to examine them regularly or be prepared to take a flight

All the Shimano and Sugino ones had the taper at 45 degrees just like the original Middleburns. They just left a bit more metal round them..

That's odd - I contacted them on Monday about sourcing a replacement LHS crank (don't ask, my fault ) and they replied at 21:45!
