Mid 90's Steel Frame ID please :)

Zanoli

Old School Hero
Hello,

I'm trying to ID this frame and would need some help... it has Ritchey dropouts, two brazed noodles (rear mech and canti ?) and a peculiar seatpost clamp (not a clamp obviously but the word escapes me in english  ). Paint job seems original.
The canti noodle points towards Brodie, doens't it ? Other than that, i'm clueless...
Someone here will be more knowledgeable i'm sure !

Thanks

Don´t know what it is but those carefully placed noodles say it´s good stuff. Maybe slap "Unknown" or "John Doe" on that down tube and build it w/ the best gear you´ve got. I bet it rides great.

Re:

I think the dropouts might be a bit later than the Brodie’s in the Kona catalog now. Did Brodie carry on after they weren’t in the Kona catalog?

It’s nice, are you interested in selling it?

The only frame I've ever seen like that with the two noodles in the same place was a Henry burton frame
Interesting ! i'm not famliar with this brand and couldn't find much on their MTB range (seems low end from what i found on the net)...could you point to a model in particular ?

Not for now but i'll tell you if it changes !

Bare frame weight? Type of BB (68/70/73 mm width) house? Could be made by an Italian brand called "Speed" as they made outrageously lightweight frames & bikes.

As far as I remember recently a fellow member here was selling a bare frame with similar wire noodles as a Speed branded one.

I found the original ad: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=398408

I hope @Veritas_rs doesn't mind  :D

Very interesting suggestion ! Noodles (albeit not exactly in the same place) dropouts, tubes sizes and colour (the blue at least) look similar. But i don't have anything etched under BB shell (68mm btw) and mine looks welded rather than fillet brazed.
My frame is indeed super light - weighs 1610 grams for a 18"ish size (47cm from BB center to seat tube edge).
Thanks !
