This is a rather niche Miche question, but I have a rear Superfast hub which I was looking to service, and it seems like they have an unusual design, unless I'm slightly losing my marbles (which is always possible).
The axle is only threaded at the non-drive side end, at the other end the cone just slots onto the axle, it doesn't screw on. It's just kept in place on the axle by tension, which I presume is provided by a spring somewhere - and it's not a lot of tension, so it's very easy to just pull the hub open at either end (though obviously when the freewheel is on there, that wouldn't be possible).
Has anyone come across these and confirm whether or not I am losing grip on reality?
[EDIT - Turned out it was just broken, the axle has snapped at the end by the drive side cone . Should probably have been obvious!]
