Mekp's Bike - Marin Team - 1995

Hi.

I want to present my retrobike.

I am interested in retro for 1,5year but this is my first running project.

Idea of this bike started growing in my mind when I have bought FD-M900 from Skolioza. Then i started looking for frame which will match... I've never found it so I've sold every m900 parts and left Retro project.

But... In the and of this summer I've got an e-mail from my friend that he ask me to build a "winter-bike". The butget was very high. Full M95x and good steel frame. I found everything and in 4 weeks bike was complete. Friend said that bike is ok i paid me 10% with promise that in the and of october I will have everythig... Of course I've never seen the rest od the money so I decided to sell bike... I've sold every XTR parts but the frame left...

I undersood that this is frame witch i was looking for...

Back in 1995 I worked in a very large bike shop in London and we sold a huge number of Marins but this was by far the nicest! My guess (helped by the title of your photo) is the Team Marin:

yes. you are right.

my bike is little bit biger (20.5) but scracked too.

I like this marin lite parts (especially canti) but it is difficult to find it so I decided to make Marin as I want, not like in catalogue.

In the evening I will show you more pics.

2. Crankset... I thought about XT 737 but i decided to use White because it is typical for Marin

White Industries 42-32-22 + FRM Alu bolts.

3. I have a plan to use XT 737 parts for this project so naturally...

Shimano XT M737 + Koolstop + Ti main Bolts.

I sold a NOS set few weeks ago in our forum - but XT's are also fine!

Now is possibility to buy it but I will stay with XT canti.

I decided to fockus on wheelset because currently there are really destroyed... and no retro.

Nice frame! I like such details as the cable stops brazed on the headtube.

I'm curious how your project develops, especially since the same time I start mine on a similar frame. Will be interesting to compare the different look to virtually the same subject. In a short time I start right topic.

73 Your Marin is little bit older. But you i see that you are going in the straight way like original i catalog.
Maybe some meeting somewhere in Poland?

I thinking about black Syncros parts here and not too much color.
