mechanical disc to hydraulic swap ?

Think Avid and Shimano have a minimum thickness for their rotors. It'll either be on the packet, or in the tech docs.

Given a 2mm starting thickness, i'd probaby swap at 1.5 or so.

nice one cheers for the help everyone !

Whats the liklihood i'll have to shorten the hoses on these ?

Very likely unless you have a long bike/ long forks.

It's really easy - I've done three or four sets and never needed a bleed. Just have all the bits ready (spare olives, spiky thingy etc - should come with the brakes) a nice sharp knife, and an extra set of hands helps.
As long as you keep the cut end upwards so the fluid doesn't run out, you'll be fine.

If you've never cut hoses you'll be surprised at just how small the bore is compared to the outside. Like a mm or so. Fluid doesn't just run out like a hosepipe. If that makes sense.

Or a more coherent method.
