mechanical disc to hydraulic swap ?

hey guys currently have Shimano BR-M475 Mechanical Disc brakes with Avid FR-1 levers on my 2004 kona cindercone,

the brakes are pretty much shot (pads seem ok) so i think its time for a little refresh

was thinking about putting some hydraulic disc brakes on instead but was just wondering if these would still be ok with the existing mountings and rotors on the bike ?

excuse me if this is a stupid question but only dealt with canti brakes before now

also after some recommendations of a decent set of hydraulic disc brakes, can be retro or new but not looking to spend 100s !

thanks in advance

Re:

The mounting and rotors will be ok for hydraulic disk. I just replaced mine with the shimano deore from chain reaction and so far they have been great and I reused the mounts and rotors. It had clarks skeletal on from the previous owner and they kept leaking. the deores from chain reaction come with all the bits to shorten the hoses.

I bought the bleed kit and some hydraulic oil. In theory you shouldn't need the kit as they are pe-bled but I got air in the system when I shortened the hoses.

Great value for money as I got everything I needed new for under £80

Re:

Get them, they're ace. If you shop at Tesco you can double your clubcard points at Evans Cycles and get them to price match these. ;)

Maybe but I'd rather shop with the place that offers me the best prices from the outset. And that's never Evans.

Anyone any idea if these would fit straight on to my existing mounts ? front forks are kona project ones.

Also how long are rotors good for ? Current ones are 10 years old, would it be wise to change these ?

Assuming your existing calipers are post mount, and a quick Google says they are, it should be a straight swap.

Rotors are fine until worn out - you start seeing a little step next to the braking surface.
