WARNING READ THIS hello i just wanted to share this with other potential wheel buyers and get feedback. i have just purchased a set of ksyrium sls. not a small investment rrp £800. when i fitted them to my principia bike i replaced the much cheaper campag scirocco entry level wheels. i noticed that the mavics are really slow rolling. i was upset. my illusions of dream legendary mavic wheels destroyed.
being an engineer i stripped the wheels and checked the bearings. I FOUND THESE WHEELS CONTAIN TAIWANESE BEARINGS> IN MY OPINION NOT THE BEST QUALITY> in my view the bearings are the most important component of a wheel. my old campag and shimano entry level hubs spin faste. some of these are over 40 years old. i am gutted. what is this all about . can any one reassure me or give me your comments. please consider the above before buying mavic wheels. surely mavic would try to buy the best bearing for a premium product. what a rip off.
