Hey, today I went to fit my Crossride rear wheel into my frame. When I tighten the QR up it stops the cassette turning. I'll try to explain it to the best of my ability! The outer lock nut seems to thread in to far tightening the cassette?? I do have a 1.75 mm Mavic spacer on the freehub to accept a 9 speed cassette- I'm not sure if this is the problem though as the cassette doesn't fit without it. I have uploaded a couple of pictures, I hope this makes some sense.

I think maybe there needs to be a washer put on before the lock nut perhaps?

Not sure if it's for the same reasons, but I had issues with nine speed on my cross max.

The Mavic freehub body isn't threaded to deep so the lockring bottoms making you think you need a spacer to get it all tight, if you add a spacer, it moves the full assembly out and it binds on the frame.

I shortened the thread on my king lockring (left) :

And it fixed the problem - nice and tight with no spacer :D

I wasn't concerned about this as it only made it the same depth as my durace lockring (on the right) :D

WD :D

I've just had a bit play around with the wheel. I removed the spacer out of the cassette.. Yes this makes the cassette spin free but it doesn't cure the axle width problem. I also took the cassette right off then tried to fit it, same problem. When it's fully tight there is way too much QR sticking out the side.

Sorry for the rubbish pictures!

You shouldnt need a spacer with 9 spd cassette.

Is this a new wheel you are trying to fit or have you taken the axle apart?

What the situation on the non dtive side? Maybe it is nit symmefrical?

Note steel frame will have thinner dropouts but axle shoukd fit.

The wheel is new to me ( eBay ) I can take a picture of the non drive side another day but that side looks alright. I've not removed the axle, I'm stumped so I think I'm going to take it to my lbs and see if he can help. It's a funny one. As for the spacer I started a thread on here a while back when I had tried to fit the cassette and there was play and someone uploaded a picture off the Mavic websit that stated the hub that I have is 10 speed and needed they're 1.75 spacer for use of 8 or 9 speed. If I can find the thread I'll put the link to it on here. Thanks.
