Marzocchi fork servicing

Hi all,

I've got some 2000 z2 xfly 80mm's for my merlin malt build.

They are mint but one of the seals has some oil weeping. Not had chance to ride them yet but as they were an ebay purchase I would rather get them serviced.

A fellow retrobiker has offered to help, but out of interest I checked with a fork specialist who said seals and parts are hard to come by so wouldn't do the job.

I see enduro do seals but they seem too tight from reviews and then there is the German guy doing seals and tools.

So is it possible to get original seals? I see an oil change is straight forward but if I did the seals do you need the tools for removing seals and then reseating them?

Any help much appreciated.

I've got some marzocchi 2002 air forks (not sure of the model, they had no decals when i bought them). Recently bought some seals for them (enduro), they were easy enough to get hold of but i don't know about original seals. Apart from the recessed nuts at the bottom of the lowers, which i had to get a set of deep impact sockets for, they were easy enough to strip.
I was gonna repaint the lowers (as they are tatty) but the seals seem to measure up the same size so i don't expect any trouble putting them back together. Prized the old ones out with a screwdriver and have pushed new seals in before with an old piece of tube, might have been a steerer off cut or something.

Sounds like improvising with tools is an option then. I've heard mixed reviews on enduro seals hence asking. Definitely paint them up, seen some impressive efforts on here.

What oil are using too?

I'll let you know how it goes, the original paint is a thick powder coat so it's gonna take some getting off.
Not sure what oil yet, I'm not even sure what forks they are yet which doesn't help.

All Marzocchis can be serviced very well!

Enduro and Ariete have seals which fits in dimensions. Enduro's have problems with pressure and the X-Fly is an air suspension fork!

I reproduced all this seals, means the Bomber Seals are from 2021! This are all 1:1 seals like the ones Marzocchi developed. Don't buy old seals packages, if you can have new ones!

Nice on the seals, as I got at least two of the BAM-style forks to do, a 32mm DOT and soon a 32mm DJ, two triple-8s, and God knows what else I'll decide to get out of sheer boredom

kraeMit - Dr Marzocchi! Thanks for your input. I may be interested in seals from you. How long to ship to the UK? Also presume its the classic version for the 2000 xfly?

Usualy a few days. Please check des outer Dust Seal in detail. I think the older X-Fly 2000 has classic, the 2002 M-Arch.
