Just wondering if the steerer can be replaced to a 1"

I think trying to find a 1" sus fork must be the holy grail of retrobike restoration. I've given up trying to find them in a colour I want!

Simple answer is no, you used to be able to get the older Italian forks changed to a 1" steerer by Windwave, but this question was asked a few weeks ago on Singletrackworld, and Windwave are out of stock of the replacement steerer tubes now.

For that fork being retro, the only thing retro about it is the name

If you want 1" now, the Mag 21's are probably the best option, they still come up on ebay regularly.

thanks for the reply, I'll keep a look out for Mag 21's. I've been looking for bombers Z3, as i've heard they are around the same year maybe a bit newer then the bike, any other suggestions? I've heard you can replace steerers on Pace forks? is this all makes or some of the older ones?

a lot of the older Pace forks (all RC35s for example) are interchangeable with 1" steerers reasonably readily available.

thanks for your help guys! I've sound a set of Mag21's on ebay. Anyone used these and know the quality of them?

Mag 21's are great forks, but compared to todays forks are a little short on travel & flexy, but not as bad as some make out. Standard travel was 46mm, the long travel kit takes this to 60mm.

If looking for one, the later, 94, 95 & 96 models are the best years; if you ever see a Sl Ti version, they are the best, but it's worth ditching the brace if you can find an aftermarket one, like an AC brace, as the OEM one was a little too light weight.

The manual is avaliable here, but expect spares to be very hard to find

thanks for your help guys, i've ended up buying a Pace RC35 from andystorey on here, and then getting the 1inch steerer from Pace them selves. My build can finally start! i'll get pictures of it complete soon as possible!
