Marin, What To Do?

Hi,
So I was a tad impulsive and bought this marin from ebay from a old bloke that owned it from new, now not sure what to do with it, looked ok in the advert but headset, bb bearings are shot, wheel bearings feel dry but not stripped them yet rims are good and wheels straight, groupset is Exage 400 and all seems to work. The frame is in great nick but zolotone finish isnt the greatest (worn smooth here and there virtually rust free), serial number is M41 BE0143 and the bike is in bear valley colours but looking at the catalogue it says the eldridge grade has a 34.9mm DT as does this, do the bear valleys also have this or could it be an EG frame.
I was really looking for a buy and ride bike so I was thinking sell it all or just the parts and powder coat the frame and forks stem and bars and rebuild?, can you still get nice LX kit or will it have to be modern?. I can get new BB and headset for it but need to sort out parts before I decide.
Any opinions please, images attached.

Bike looks in great condition and a 1 owner.

I'd be inclined to replace the worn items, give it new lease of life and just enjoy it :)

Re:

I always feel a bit sad when original bikes get broken up. If you're unhappy with it, why not sell it on complete and just start with a frameset? The Bear Valley is pretty low end so if you're going to spend money on paint and components why not go for a better start?

Also, before you start work, does it fit and is it comfortable?
