Marin Bear Valley SE Project

Since purchasing the frame and fork from a member here (when I was supposed to be reducing the fleet) things have moved quite quickly.

The beginning:

The middle:

Getting there:

Trying to keep it fairly period, but the wheels have been "borrowed" from another bike for now.
Its not finished by any means, or even rideable yet until one or two more bits arrive but its close.

Currently sporting:

deore lx front and rear mech
stx rc v brakes
stx crank
shimano underbar shifters
kalloy seat post and bars
alloy bar ends
specialized bg saddle (not pictured)
mavic front rim on specialized hub
sun rim on the rear with stx rc hub

If it rides well and I'm happy then I'm going to look at getting it resrayed (same colour) later this year

Whats the difference between an SE and a normal Bear Valley ?

Basically its a bit lighter! Think the seat stays are slightly different as well, I'll have to consult the Marin catalogue to be sure though.

Seat stays look similar on yours to mine, maybe lighter but my chrome-ally not sure how to spell that is not too heavy, maybe better equipped, what year is yours ?

Mine is a 1995.

Looking at the catalogue and bikepedia the Bear Valley SE is about 1.5lbs (0.7kg) lighter than the Bear Valley.

Spec lists are very similar with STX RC and Marin Lite components featuring heavily. Main differences seem to be wheels, gear shifters and brakes!

Err I dont think you're gonna like this as its my Pub Bike and its disguised but underneath the disguise is a top quality mountain bike that fly's and runs like a Swiss watch.
