Hi Guys, long time no speak!

I fished my old Manitou FS out of my Dads garage the other day and it's in a right state! I took some bad advice a few years back and stripped the anodising off to try and polish it up but it looks terrine now. Does anyone know where I can can get it stripped down and polished back to its former glory? I very nearly had that bike finished and I'd like to get it back on the road do I can come out with you lot again

Ha ha tell me about it. There is another thread on here where an American chap acid baths his and fully restores it. Difference is mine has no cracks at all do it's do-able. Just need to find the right people and it'll be mint again

Hard work

You have a problem, as the welds will take lots of hours to do correctly, don’t forget this bike is not the strongest and the welds fail anyway. Once you have polished it get it re anodised silver as it was meant to be. Your other option is to have it painted red with a oil based 2- pac paint. I’m no expert on this bike but I’m Shaw it was done in a bright red also, this will save you rubbing the welds down.

Blast with a very fine delicate media, then re-anodise? Anodising is the only real way to stop it tarnishing up again. Painting it would be a sin imo.
