Manitou FS frame - Cracked and how much?

Does anyone have any pictures of a Manitou with a repaired head-tube?

The one mentioned by jimjim2012 in this quote was repaired using a press fit sleeve, but the crack was much shorter than the one in the auction.

iirc there was that headtube repaired manitou fs that went for £800 or so complete. (i think the guy was asking £1000 on the forum before listing on ebay.)

The weld on the BB of this one is pretty unsightly. An out of sight weld is one thing, but surely the point of these frames is their beauty?

Could you actually repair a Manitou headtube to the standard of this Saracen? The frame is anodised, also I'm not sure the alloy used is as agricultural as we see here.

Either way, I'd be very interested to see what other fixes have been tried on the head-tubes of these frames.

Lol, it's frame and forks chaps. I went back and forward on the idea for a while, and made some errors in the listings as a result, but they are paired up again.

In terms of pricing, it's ballpark with the cracked/repaired FS frame recently sold (and then resold) on this website:

delboy009 - Interesting to note that you were far more receptive to the repaired jimjim2012 frame above and yet you are quick to put the boot in here  The seat clamp and front mech alone would sell for more than £75 so play fair. I won't even ask how you know for sure a repaired head tube will fail because it's clear you don't know what you're talking about. These frames are often repaired and then ridden for years - I know of plenty. And as MJN says, it's not a difficult repair... and he does know what he's talking about.

Sorry for my opinion !!!! Why do so many get the knickers in such a twist on here ??

Christ if I cried every time my pride and joy Klein Attitude got a dig on ere for one thing or another ide be a spineless jelly fish by now !! I like Manitou's.... A lot even, but I do know they have their issues, just like somone mentioned - very lightweight tubing !!

My apologies for upsetting :?

What a bummer... such a clean frame. Agree with previous posts... I'd go to a tonne and hang it on the wall and sign it D Bradbury...
