MacRetro chat and rides thread

Went to the lbs to get my spoke replaced on the road bike and found out the suntour superbe rear hub is cracked  swithering on splitting and getting rid as the thought of sourcing a new hub and then getting it rebuild sounds like arrpita.

Get ye to thy roadie forum and beg for hubness. IIRC Walkers are fairly reasonable for wheel builds.

Yeah the dude was very supportive will have a scoot about ebay etc. Just thinking old 70's stuff might not be the best thing to go battering downhill on.... who am I kidding old road stuff was never on the radar and much as I can appreciate summit pretty just no the same as the fat tyre machines.

He was telling me that a fella that comes into the shop has a team yo eddy hanging up in his garage, would not tell me where it was. Also graham orbree is going to be at walkers on friday night at the shop refit grand opening

Upgrade the wheels/running gear to something a bit newer/more robust? Frames lovely, shame not to make the most of it. Chance to sort that crazy dutch gearing too.

 you could stick a slightly more modern wheel on the rear, give yourself a couple more gears and loose the strain on the knees. You would hardly notice it.

The appeal is a complete superbe groupset, mix and match nags away at me, irrational i know. Mind you there is some nice campy wheels on sale at the moment.... you still got the gazzelle TK?

Yup, the addition of the higher stem and midge bars has pretty much solved all my issues with it (or the issue that my back doesn't bend) the longer rides are playing on my knees a little. New shoes and floating cleats will hopefully solve that issue after my birthday.

Getting out in a pack makes a huge difference to the enjoyment level for me too. Although this weekend is going to be a turbo session as I'm back in work again. :(
