Funny how Mikee slags off the manhood of road cyclists whilst admitting he's too scared to ride roadbikes.

I've hurtled down the Hartside pass on a overloaded 70's tourer at 40mph plus knowing the bike has a tendency for violent speed wobbles at those speeds, shite brakes and huge tour busses trying to squeeze past. It was bloody brilliant and if that makes me a lycra clad mincer then I'm guilty as charged ;)

Stop slagging off the sub genre's of cycling and adopt an each to their own attitude

Sorry but I don't get it. I've tried riding road bikes and it was about as much fun as trapping willy skin in a zip. Cars wizzing past inches from your elbow, potholes, litter filled verges with the occasional bit of rotting roadkill. Boring boring boring. And to make it worse you are constantly tortured by glimses of distant trails, bridals, woodland, streams, craggs and the like as you slog along. Plus every other roady you see just looks as miserable as you feel inside.

Cycling for me is time travel. Those innocent days where you ride through the woods with friends, slipping and sliding around, mud in your face, grass stains on your knees, the jumps, the heart pumping rocky descents. Its about being a child again. Its about being with your mates. Its about escaping to corners of countryside where cars and grown ups can't get to. Mostly its about fun.

I'm sorry, but anyone who chooses Tarmac over rocks is a fool in my eyes. I'd rather not ride than ride on the road.
