was think that too...... Never likely to ride those roads on my lonesome, fast roads (especially when I'm trying to get from lanarkshire to skye in 5hrs) with lots of buses and hgv s.

Saw this as a good opportunity with the amount of bikes on the road. Strength in numbers and all that

Jimi - I've an old Philips roadie you can have FOC if you want to try it out

Working order and not too battlescarred. Think its a 21". Let me know if interested i'll pput up a pic and will be in Shawlands area within the next couple of weeks...

Otherwise I'll just recycle it........ :xmas-big-grin:


EDIT: - here its.......actually in pretty good condition. Nothing fancy but perfectly useable.

Last time i was on a road bike was when i was 15

Jimi, I'm on a 50 and I think it is too small for me, a 54 in a shop fitted me perfectly and I am only an inch taller than you, I think you need to sit on a few to get the feel, very different to mtbs.

Calculating the correct frame size

You can get a rough idea of the size of frame you require if you measure your inside leg - crotch to floor - then subtract:
9" / 23cm or 10" / 25cm for a road bike (or a mountain bike used as a road bike)


12" / 30cm for an athletically-ridden mountain bike

MTB and Road Bikes are differently sized, dont use mtb knowledge to decide road bike size
