Edited in and added the Etape to May as I'm doing that :)

I'd love to do Rado's trails but really can't afford it - in holidays or money. I need all my hols for when the kids are off school.

TK I reckon you should start a MM thread, not for me this year but you may get some bites!

I was going to wait till more details are up on their website - (and once it has been cleaned of the trojan that is sitting in it)

I've got a couple of weeks off coming up, starting from the 31st. I'm thinking of having a big bikepacking adventure, assuming the weather doesn't turn completely awful in the meantime. My first rough draft of a route (it may be altered and/or shortened and/or involve trains) is:

Edinburgh (home) to Glasgow via the canals and Falkirk (67 miles)
Glasgow to Fort William via West Highland Way (95 miles)
Fort William to Aviemore via East Highland Way (78 miles)
Aviemore to Pitlochry to Dundee via cycle route 77 (?) (104 miles)
Dundee to Edinbugh via Fife Coastal Path (63 + 10 miles to get back to the house)

Total of 417 miles, might try and do it in a 7 days, but could extend to 10 if necessary. Things I need to work out are:

Likelihood of weather stopping play
Is the East Highland Way bike-friendly?
Planned (wild) camp sites
Potential escape points (train stations)
Which bike to use
Which tyres :?

Just throwing it out there, seeing if anyone has any experience or advice which I'd find useful. Once I get a proper plan in effect I'll let you all know the itinerary and then everyone's welcome to join me for any sections they want.

Enough, no more protestation, you are a superfit nutter and thus on completely the wrong forum.

400 miles plus, on/off road in late autumn around Scotland and it doesn't even vaguely phase you
