MacRetro chat and rides thread

I used to Ski Kaiser, but knee injury stopped all that, I tried board but wasn't very good - I really don't like not facing down a hill.

and I am building a snow bike this year - willing to bring that along if it works but it won't be near as fast as a board or skis.

I'm using my old skis as the basis for it.

Ski Bikes aside, I've only skied on Hill End dry Ski Slope and that was 20+ years ago.
I do enjoy sledging though if thats allowed

Hmmm, that's got me thinking...

TK - What are these ski bikes like to actually ride? Closer to riding, sledging or skiing/boarding? Do you really need to know how to ski to throw a leg over?

Also I've seen another ski bike with normal cranks/pedals, although those were (somehow) bolted permanently into the horizontal position. Are you thinking of doing that, or going with those pegs from the pic?

I think it is a bit like holding on to a yak when it is being chased by a yeti - no control as such :)

here is a video - notice they cut just before each landing :)

the full sus version of this one is around 400euros at the moment - pretty decent for a niche market

I reckon I'll put pegs on, but small ones feet will be out for balance most of the time. I think an understanding of carving on the edges will help but you'd soon get the hang of it. my mates son has made one using a skateboard as the ski and leaving the front wheel on - I can't wait to see the hilarity that will involve.

Eck, a pair of old skis from a charity shop and bend some metal - fit to BSO and off you go. - would be great on snowy bings.

I've got a horrendous image in my head now of Eck in full nutter mode charging down a bing swatting kids on BMX's out his way.

Without a helmet of course.
