That has come up fast, is anyone going to the Scottish Bike Show at the SEC this weekend? Just saw it on the news.

How much :? though i can guess it will be high.
Never understood why you have to pay to see what you would like to buy.
Like a shop but you pay to enter the premises :?

it's £9.50 to get in, mother in law cut the bit out of the paper, had the same thoughts. the add details pedal power as a main sponsor/attraction. drive past their shop to get to work, nice guys, nice stock, why pay to see it??

Tech Question....

I'm going to put an ahead headset on mK's bike - I was hunting for a 390 a-c ahead P2 fork but have had no luck, could I just use the threaded fork (perhaps fill the threads) with an ahead quill adaptor?

I don't see why not as I use the quill adaptor already with a threaded headset.
I thought I would fill the threads so the steerer was smooth and would cause less friction damage to the headset.

You can't use the quill adaptor with an ahead headset because you've got no way to tension headset.

If the threaded steerer isn't long enough, don't see why can just use a steerer extender on top, which is similar to the ahead quill adapter, but leaves you with a starnut equivalent that you can use to tension the headset. Note that you can only fit an extender to a steel steerer, alu steerers are wider and they won't fit.

IMHO! Why bother? Its not like p2's are that rare, summat will come up and be fit for purpose rather than spending dough and adding additional weight to a feasibly weakened set up. Why the P2's would another set of forks do?

what length of steerer you needing tk ?

theres a set of on one rigids in the 98+ for sale section i think

The one ones are 420 AC as opposed to the 390 needed. If that's OK I have a set that I could do cheaper than the ones in the for sale section and my ones have canti/V adapters on them.

TK I can do a 1&1/8th inch AHead steerer rigid trials fork about 400mm A-C with canti mounts and IS disc tabs in black. Admittedly high ten so a wee bit heavy but very tough and cheap :D

Alternative plan i can suggest is a 'Problem Solvers' adjustable spacer which is a two part spacer threaded to itself which you wind out once you've tightened down the stem to provide headset preload. No Star Nut required ;)
