he did:

under general bans:
old school pete - User Request

Does that not mean that another user asked for him to be banned for some reason? I assumed it did but may be wrong. :?

no I think it means he asked, if it was just a case of a user requesting then I would have been banned a long time ago, eh velo

:?

So apart from the obvious dangers of the for sale thread, why would one ask to be banned?
Why not just stop visiting the site? Ahhh - its an addiction :D

But still - they could then just register under different name easily :?

Maybe Retrobike was bringing out a side of his personality he didn't like. Thats one of the numerous reasons I quit as AEC, I have an officious part to my nature that I know bugs other folk, it was rearing its head in my moderator duties, nods to Gaz

Does seem drastic, though maybe understandable.

MrP its your IP address that gets blocked I think.

I believe spitoon also did this.

If John's banned old_school_pete's IP address, then he won't be able to re-register - even though most ISP's allocate dynamic IP addresses, in practice you typically keep the same one.

As a sad IT type, curious to know if the ban is at the web-server level, or just the forum.

Impulse buys are a bad thing, that frame I mentioned has arrived and is way smaller than I thought. The seller obviously cant measure stuff worth toffee which is a shame as its a nice frame. Obviously chromolly, mid 90's or earlier, 1&1/8th" headtube, 18.5" ST c-t, 21.5" TT c-c. Will hang onto it for a bit but may sell on.

This retro addiction has got to be controlled
