not that I give a toss really but was this not one of the retro meets? You not fancy taking one of the old girls out for a whirl?

Think it will be the unibomber as my level of fitness is so pants that SS fat will prob be to much for me.

Ah know but ah don't care  The modern additions to the fleet means the retros will only be getting an airing when the weather good.

fair play, but you need to hide at the back of the group picture.

I have one retro all weather (Uni), one retro SS good weather (Yo), two retro garage queens (Fat & Orange), and one modern SS all weather (Splatter).

UniBomber for me.

Sayin that the courier and the KHS aren't really fair weather riders, its just I've got 2 new toys

I have one retro all weather (Xizang), one retro SS (Xizang going uphill), one retro garage queen (Xizang with suspension), and one modern all weather (Xizang) - as modern as anything needs to be :)

I might bring the Xizang ;)

Liking the blue ano on the Xizang TK, will you still be running the disc at the end of the month? I hope those scary snowman looming at the top of the hill will have melted away by then though.

Gazz, trails today were pretty tame, fire track mostly, slow and muddy/icey with a few short bits of singletrack. Really just a leg turner for me, nice to get that post ride burn in the muscles again... Did do a bit of springy dry forest floor towards the end which was nice, made me think of summer.

It's not that I was underwhelmed by the 29'er experience, it just didn't feel all that different. What I probably need is to take it up the Pentlands - ride it somewhere I know. I quite like the bike though, fits me pretty well and no problem with confidence.

Still planning on bringing the Rockhopper to Dunkeld, need to give it a proper shake down ride next weekend though. Shouldn't be too tiring, will be running 32:18.

On a more serious note today's ride made me want some tyres that don't slide as much as 16 year old rubber, any "all condition" tyre recommendations?

I agree with what you say about BullsEye's I put in some new bearings but Ive never ridden on them since. Im really interested in your other
suggestions ;)

Thanks Rob

Where did you source the Bearings Rob? they are like hens teeth. I use Gil's Shims with a Hope Hollowtech BB, works fine but I eat through bearings as the axle is a little short so as soon as there is any play I need new ones to save my frame.

Dr S's soution is the best if you have Pace pushfit bearings - my long term solution is to re-instate the original sealed cups but that is a long way off yet.

JustBackDated on here has a few pace style bullseye spiders in lovely colours, and I can supply you with drawings of the original safety washer so you can make your own.

It was years ago but I think the company is still in business their called
Bearing Services from Glenrothes in Fife. I get all of my motorbike bearings and primary chain stuff from them. They know their stuff.

Yeah that f#ckin thing, I forgot about that and a drawing would be good.

Cheers Rob
