MacRetro chat and rides thread

ha ha and yes Mr Panda, was the queens view

Pretty muted review of the 29'er ZZ I was under the impression that it would be a big difference?

Knee is giving me jip so no riding but got my mancave sorted, a week or two away from having all my bikes finished and the start of my NY resolution to be like TK and be happy with what I got- mind you, will need to get a commuter for spring but that does not count does it?

looking forward to Dunkers- what are folks riding?

Sorry guys another stupid question, whats this about????

Designed to be used with either Centre-Lock Disc rotor mount for secure hassle free setup or regular rim brake

Whats this centre-lock all about, pros n cons????
Its XT hubs.

Centre lock is shimano's method for attaching discs to hubs. The conventional method is with 6 bolts but shimano has a spline drive type set up. Pro's and cons I'm no sure, I have both and neither seems better than the other. If anything the centrelock is less widely adopted and rotrs may be a wee bit dearer or then again second hand ones may be a wee bit cheaper :D

what kinda trails were you riding ZZ? You've spurred me on to have it finished by next weeked

Gazzo I'll probably be on the salsa with spikey tyre or the 29er.

not that I give a toss really but was this not one of the retro meets? You not fancy taking one of the old girls out for a whirl?

Think it will be the unibomber as my level of fitness is so pants that SS fat will prob be to much for me.

I agree with what you say about BullsEye's I put in some new bearings but Ive never ridden on them since. Im really interested in your other
suggestions ;)

Thanks Rob

Where did you source the Bearings Rob? they are like hens teeth. I use Gil's Shims with a Hope Hollowtech BB, works fine but I eat through bearings as the axle is a little short so as soon as there is any play I need new ones to save my frame.

Dr S's soution is the best if you have Pace pushfit bearings - my long term solution is to re-instate the original sealed cups but that is a long way off yet.

JustBackDated on here has a few pace style bullseye spiders in lovely colours, and I can supply you with drawings of the original safety washer so you can make your own.
