Welcome RobMac. Another Fifer for the East Coast (gradually getting more) Massive! Are you up for Dunkeld at the end of January?

In non retro bike related news, fed up trying to get the bloody Hope Mini working on the front of the iDrivel, so I treated myself to some 4 pot goodness. Yum.

Much prefer the looks of the old Mini (and the old lever), but looking forward to getting back out on the iDrivel for the first time since October (I'm no counting my one brake effort at the bings).

Now, snow, ice and bad knee please get tae feck for the weekend if ye dinnae mind.

Oh aye, Happy New Year and all that bollox.

Big welcomes to RobMac, what do you ride, spill your history fella !

East coast massive, naaa, in deference to Big Ecks fave old bike, the East Coast Massif

Just ordered a disc convertor from SuperCycles and will be seeking a short travel (probably suntour) fork with disc mounts for the Alpinestars. Finally going to get a vaguely modern set up for trail centre fun

Where you likely to try and ride this weekend ZZ, I need a bike ride or I'll go mad

Have a not too drunken Hogmanay and stay warm its freezing oot there

Thanks for the welcome Zigzag :D
Yeah I did see the Dunkeld thing and yeah I do fancy it, I'll stick it on the calendar. I take it we'll all be tooled up Retro Stylee.

Cheers Rob

Velo - If there's not a major thaw, can't see myself getting out at all. And I'm going stir bloody crazy too, haven't turned a wheel in nearly 3 weeks.

Tried a wee skoot around the slabs in my garden to test the new front brake, and conditions are just horrible - snow is all iced over and hard, then your tyre breaks through that onto the ice below. urrggghh.

Glentress is looking bad (http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/glentress-conditions-4) and Kaiser posted that link yesterday about 4 feet of snow in the Pentlands/Castlelaw. I hate writing off another weekend, but that's kind of what it looks like.

What are conditions in the local woods up your way like?

Most will be retro stylee, some will just be retro minded.

Looking like my 1989 Nishiki Cascade may be the bike I'm riding on the 30th.
Although at least two other 'gates' are in contention (I'm 6'6" so all my bikes are no wee). There are a variety of nice bikes amongst the MacRetro Clan.

What you got RobMac ?

Velomaniac it feels like the first evening at a AA meeting, my names Rob and Im a Retroholic lol ;)

Pace RC100
Kona Explosif
Puegeot Optimum (road bike)

08 Specialized Stumpy Expert
09 Dawes Galaxy Ti
09 Surly LHT

Sorry about the new stuff

Rob

ZZ local woods are snow bound as it just keeps coming but few folk are wondering around so not much ice and thus soft enough snow for a bit of grip. I reckon fun could be had on gnarly tyred single speeds provided you were not after too much speed. I'll do a recon on new years day and post up after.

Be good to get a wee bit riding in before back to work ;)

RobMac, nowt wrong with new stuff as old stuff was new once plus Surly are retro at heart :D

Mind you a Galaxy in anything other than Reynolds 531 is just wrong

You may be right as Ive only done 32 miles on it due to quality/pre-delivery check issues :?

And you absolutely right about the Surly that why I got it ;)
