MacRetro chat and rides thread

awfy quiet roon here  too much turkey? I'm still working, 2 shifts to go then am aff.

That time o year. Been making the most of the time off- Dalby today, 90 mins solo night ride last night, out on the roadie tomorrow for an hour if it's not too nesh. And I'm about to undo all the good work by eating an industrial sized curry and wash it down with a Leffe or six.

Merry Christmas y'all. I'm halfway through a course of antibiotics for throat infection so have been feeling shyte, but getting better now. Not been on the bike for a week, and am being shown up by my 76 year old dad who was out for a run today, which is enterprising as the pavements at least are still impassable.

Some pain is holding me back too as I splatted the bones on the outside of my left knee onto one of said icy pavements on the 23rd, whilst trying to reorientate one of my drinking buddies after getting out of a taxi. I'll leave him to freeze to death another time.

Hope you have a good trip tomorrow. those who go. I was watching this Adventure Show about walking in Skye tonight, and fancy spending a few days there next year. Must be about 50 miles top to bottom. Any recommendations?

Cheers
Steven

Sligachan campsite - directly opposite Sligachan Hotel / Micro Brewery :D

Otherwise Coruisk/Glen Brittle can be nice I believe.

I am now worried as only just the right side of 50 AND STILL have all the Skye munros to do

Whats the problem Mr.P. I've never done a Munro and dont care a hoot :D

Will this snow never end, us east coast low landers cant cope. There has been snow everyday in Loanhead for nearly a fortnight. Council have plain and simply given up trying to keep the pavements clear, side roads are a skating rink and even I have stopped enjoying battling the white stuff on my bike

Been mighty quiet on here past week or two so I can only presume every ones having a great time.

Cheers

I you want encouragement for the Cuillin Ridge Mr P have a look here to see the horror of Collies ledge. The tiny red speck that you can barely see is a person. Still it is only a Moderate/Easy in climbing terms...

Speaking for myself the Cuillin Ridge from Sgurr Nan Gillean to the Inn Pinn inclusive was my introduction to Munros (and abseiling, and huge exposure, and dangling by my elbows over big drops) and I have rarely been as sh1t scared in my life as I was going along Collies Ledge and traversing a big 45 degree slab just before the Inn Pinn. Never again!

And the icy roads and pavements are indeed a pain and my knee is sore enough to even keep me off the turbo. So I am loafing about instead and working on my self loathing.

Which admittedly is a good laugh compared with hoovering or doing my tax return, as I should.

Warning - non cycling content

Nearly got spat off Cruach Ardrain (a munro) today in heap big winds, knee deep powder snow underlain with ice, and huge amounts of spindrift  Met a couple of Lost Wimmin and pointed them in right direction. Follwoed them off fairly soon after , windy as Fluck & Law it was :p

Mighty cold and blown off feet a few times

Cycling was not an option, really.

Like the Skye pic and look forward to it

GULP.

WHERE IS EVERYONE ???????????????

Especially where is Gaz

Has the Gasbag sprung a leak, he's too quiet, I suspect he's up to something

Mind you Kaisers pretty quiet too as is ZigZag, without they 3 its a ghost town on here
