Breaking in a Brooks is a joyous experience  actually its not as near as bad as anyopne says. The new saddles don't take half as much time and its not as if its like sitting on a hot poker or owt, their pretty comfy of the bat but improve with age. For some reason people like to moan about saddles  A Brooks is goes from needing a chamois to being able to ride without one in sublime comfort. Theres no point going weight weenie on that one so you might as well build for comfort and style :) Theres something intangible about owning one thats shaped to your erse, you do become attached to it.

Have a look at Velo Oranges own leather saddles or if your going to go the synthetic route a san marco regal or a concur or rolls would look boss :)

ohwa cha cha cha, what ye done?

I dunno, will find out soon enough

I got a tip from a 60-70s club racing champion about Brooks break ins. Use tape to fill the holes (on the underside) and put saddle upside down. Then get a big glob of saddle feed mixed with lanolin and spread it around the insde a few mm thick. Then place it in the oven at 80deg for 15-20 minutes. Take it out and quickly wipe out all the excess- careful its hot!!, then fit it to the bike as quickly as possible and ride up and down the street until it cools. Et Voila!

I was talking to an old audax/tourer guy, his method was a broccoli vindaloo for dinner. The next day find a secluded road, cover 'yer erse' in tallow and cycle around naked.

Very nice Gazz, love the detail on the Shimano gear.

Fannied aboot with it last night, but couldn't think of any suitable text. Plus I knew I'd get a row, and I'm a good boy.
