MacRetro chat and rides thread

Kaiser, you planning to open a Scottish mtb museum or something.

Your good lady must be very understanding or you have finally retreated to the garage properly

Right, further thought on a festive season meet, The Ken has pointed out a flaw in my Blair Adam proposal, Christmas tree operations although they should be over by the 27th. Alternative venue, The Pentlands and my backyard trails with a pub stop thrown in, any takers :?: Beauty of this plan is I have no excuse not to research some riding as I live in the thick of it

Any one up for a ride this November, any weekend as I no longer can go to NWA meet due to tight finances. A midweek run might be possible but too early to tell.

As regards bikes, cannot decide what to do next. Either retro fit a disc brake to an mtb, or build a fixie road bike, or finally build up Dahon folding mtb, or assemble Nishiki when I get it. All plans require cash injection which means only one happens this month. Cant decide, brain mel...lt...in.....g...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

loverly bike sure you could get it fixed- so you still have another gt coming aswell??????

you were ment to be thinning the herd

the yo will look the business even if it is too small

GT is a deal in progress, its a 92 avalanche the white one with black specks. Just waiting for ranestu to get back to me. Still need to thin the herd though or maybe be more judicious in what I keep the 2 karakorums might end up going.

talked to the LBS about my wheels- he says I have seized nipples but he will lube them up overnight and see if he can twist them tomorrow

Try pouring boiling water on them. Could crack the corrosion.

I'm still no sure about November at all. Was going to the NWA but remembered that we'd said we were going to the CX in Dundee. As for the CX getting cold feet all the finishers are from clubs, might still be a level to far for me just now.

Velo you need to start selling, you've got a ton of stuff and access to more get it sold to fund yer habit. I reckon you need a good fitting hardtail with discs, risers, short stem and big tyres. Get this and then satisfy your peculiar urges with your other steeds.

Pentlands sound cool velo, will they be boggy as a route with dryish trails might be worth while or just wait until it all freezes over like dunkeld.

When do you get your brakes back kaiser?

Getting a set of bombers for the vega as I really want this to be my main geared rider- with the clockie getting the chop after xmas. Want to get down to 3 mt bikes 2 ss and one geared.

Going to drum on Sunday if anyone is interested?

Will do if they can't sort it, the mavics are just perfect for the yo and I'll be devistated if they have to go back!

Anyone got any crank ring spacers they don't need?

No sure, never gave a return date but I've waited this long to get it finished

So what will they be?

No Drum for me I'm afraid, I'm going to try to make more of an effort to get down though. Its been in my head all week, I'd started a thread 'Britain's best trails' but couldnae really pinpoint a place I enjoy the most. Sure Glentress is a hoot but Drum has really grown on me.

Kaiser, yer hoose has become a retrobike black hole that is sucking in bikes at an exponentially increasing rate. Good luck trying to get those Karakorums past the event horizon.

I feel one of those light-hearted Dr Who episodes coming on...
