MacRetro chat and rides thread

No, its still very much a going concern. That Commer transporter is still hauling various Jags around the world to Historic Motor Races. (BTW, Hugh turned down a £20million offer for the transporter 2 years ago  ). I would not worry about the copyright issues- your design is different- anyhow Hugh is a good guy and won't mind- its just the toerags on Ebay flogging off stickers for Glaswgow Neds to stick on the back of Subaru's that pisses him off.

I find in situations like this it is best to just drop them an email or letter, state what it is for and the limitations of our usage.

The link to being a retro bike version of his business might mean he won't mind.

Giving him the heads up that we won't be selling anything to non-members will probably make it fine for him. ...we could even send him one to use as a headbadge on his bike :)

We could easily give him a smallprint line on our banner that says something like:
"Ecurie Macretro Logo is based on The famous Ecurie Ecosse brand and is used with the kind permission of Hugh"

Hi all

Hello all
Apologies for a couple of months of macretro non activeness
Work has been manic and have only had a couple of days off since July, things seem to easing a bit so will hopefully be heading south more often for a few rides out.
Have been getting in a good few miles but mainly on the roadie and a few trips to Golspie and the local woods on the Stumpies.
I havnt gone through all the old posts and only check every couple of days so miss the banter.
I heard mention of doing the cyclocross rounds which I really fancy doing and with a couple in Glasgow I think I can get away for, that seems like a plan. I even had a look at a Ridley crossbow, but for this winter I may just convert the 98 steel Stumpy to drop bars and skinny tyres. Anybody still up for it?
My macretro winter ride will most likely be either the singlespeed 94, but for general the trusty 88 Stumpy. When and where is the Bothy weekend?

Jamie the long lost macretro aussie

G'day Janey

Bothy ride will probably be in the spring now when the weather picks up. Will keep you all posted.

I'll maybe try to send a mail about the logo. Can appreciate it must be a pain in the arse with folks stealing the image.

Jamie, where to begin  CycloX looks like being in Dundee though I'm hoping to do the Aviemore ones. Talk in the shop this week is doing some Enduro type events next year. Three of us are going down to Keilder for the Octoberfest marathon and its got us talking about next years adventures. The bothy trip is cancelled I'm afraid(thus me maybe coming to aviemore for the CX) though.... Gazz and I had spoke about trying to plan a biggie for next year but our experience and knowledge is nil. Maybe try to rope in some of the old hands at the game. Mr P are you listening  Up coming rides apart form the CX, MR Panda is currently pondering maps for a winter alldayer. The east coasters have been prodded into action for the same and we'll possible be trying to get to Ae at some point.

Oh and bike wise Si has just got something that might get your Stumpy up.

I've just 'won' a pair of allegedly Ritchey forks on t'bay. Reckon I'm gonna go periodish/Retro with the Wicked maybe even weenie it. These are nearly a pound lighter than the Groovys so its a good start. Next up will be a 1" quill stem with canti doodah and convert the CK headset.
