Just as a matter of interest, whats happened to AC, have not heard a peep in ages :?:

do you know I was thinking the same today, I reckon hes went all that fixie way

Nipped out for a quick wee training sesh tonight up Callander Park (totty wee bit of woods on a hill in the middle of Falkirk). Spotted a deer (!), and found a decent little piece of single track, not particulary challenging but flowed well and broke up the monotony of the land rover track. Good ride, only fell off the once and got covered in sticky willys (ahem, titter ye not).

OK, so tonight's question for the MacRetro brain trust. I received this Suntour XCD rear mech (as well as various other XCD bits) in the post today - anybody know if it is 6 or 7 speed?

BITD i left all the technical stuff to trained spanner monkeys ie Away Caboose (my local bike shop guy) however something in my tiny brain says that der will do 7 speed- i like the old suntour stuff, the orig clockwork was all suntour and it looked the baws.

AC is deep in computer jiggery pokery study time at the mom and to boot is pretty bad with the old alan partridge "knowing M.E. Knowing you". so he is lurking I'm sure.

GT gone today think the sbike is next- kind of neat this clearing the decks lark.

Cheers Gazz. Hope you're not selling the 'Dale, while I haven't seen it in the flesh, the photos look great and you must have sunk a fair few hours into the frame. Give me a shout if you're selling the Stumpy though :)

Dales a keeper, was thinking of getting her up and running with some v- brakes this time. And pretty sure the stumpie is a keeper, next year she will get pretty new paint as the ride is very nice- you have first refusal ;)

Well done getting out, we need the macretro massive keilder team in the shape of their lifes, those boys down in the ne will take some beating-not!

You might be right Gash, was out around Thrunton again last night and I was hopeless. Don't know what the problem is, but last few rides i have really struggled. I dropped the ratio from 34/15 to 34/17 last night and hills that i usually grind up i had to get off and walk. Just felt shattered. Must be the diet.

ZigZag, the mech will do 6 or 7 or even 8 speed, its the shifters that are limited to the number of gears they can do, though friction shifters or indexed thumbies can often do one or more gears than they claim to be designed for.

Suntour stuff is the business apart from their shifter pods which I dislike intensely.

sounds like you are just run down and the diet will not be helping things si

They say that laughter is the best medicine, so here is a picture of my attempt to transform my orig clockwork to a yo via a dodgy paintjob.

For a self confessed camping hater that bike looks seriously set up for the full on expedition tour

Thankfully no embarracing photos from my lycra clad past exist, only the stuff of today exists and now I don't care
