It's hard to beat Avid levers IMO. Even their most basic is pretty good.

Yup, I'd agree.
I have Pauls levers on one of my bikes bought mainly just for bling factor, but they are no better than Avid SD7s. In fact, they may not even be as good!

Avids on both bikes for me two. Bog standard versions but rock solid lever.
