MacRetro chat and rides thread

im suspecting that due to the length of time the course will be open for ( unless im reading it wrong and its that many hours to start and not from start to finish ) and with an assumed steady pace of 10mph im thinking not many more than 30 miles if that

did 15 miles on the road today in an hour , headwind , mtb with knobblies , just the one gear

helped a mate waxoyl his latest mk2 scort ( jimi are you going classic ford next week ?? ) id show a pic but it had a respray last week and there are no new ones

then another 15 miles back in 55mins , passed a few cars going too slow . you know what its like

so 30 miles today :P

good effort kaiser, and I did see his t-shirt jibe, and what is his race number exactly?
.

I don't know my race number. Have a look on the Mountain Mayhem website for me if you get a spare minute. Twenty four hours you know and on a 37lb 1930's Klunker. None of this poncing about for me yer big poofs!

Gaz, I'm not actually very clued up on older shimano groupset hierarchy but I have a nice set of STX-RC 7spd/cantibrake combined shifter brake pods. I'm sure they'd be fine but if it must be LX then alas I'm not your man.

As regards biking, put in about 10 miles 90% off road up to one of the local reservoirs. Lovely weather, great riding but had to abandon a bit of single track when the limitations of slick tyres on off camber rooted descent became alarmingly apparent

Will attempt to use bike for all journeys up to Dalby. As the great Fausto Coppi, the Lance Armstrong of his day said, when asked about the secret of his cycle fitness, "Ride yourbike, ride your bike and ride your bike", the only four words of English he learned. :D

Could do CV next weekend, not keen on Pollock as every time I've joined you there its been wet and muddy

Cheers All

Dr. S on a 37lb clunker for 24hours, madness, but what madness, I'm impressed :D

Mind you I have attempted a 1 km uphill TT on a 46lb Rudge roadster, my knees still hurt when I think about it. Cant remember my time but it is or was open to anyone in that a section of road within Hollyrood park was marked with a line on the kerb either end of a measured 1 km. You time yourself and its not easy

Good luck Doc
