M2 Build options - your thoughts please

I'm leaning towards the keep it as is and build up to ride................if I find one in nicer condition I would have two.................better :D

Good idea ;)

Option 1

I'd go for option 1

For several reasons:

95/96 wasn't a million years ago, so some really clean examples must be out there

I'd build it with the kit I intended to use and ride, cos you know how you just evolve and perfect things when using them?

Imagine your dream frame turning up and just transplanting a fully sorted component group and having it all come straight together!

However I wouldn't be suprised if after a few touch ups and a good T-Cut you weren't a lot happier with the one you have

Personally I say only re-finish if the original finish is gone already or totally beyond redemption!

A bit of patina looks great to my eyes, be nice to see a bit more of that on here IMHO

And yeah you'd have two!

I'm going to flat off and polish the frame over the weekend and see how it comes out......might get some pics up too ;)

Depends on what you bought it for and how long your going to keep it?

1..if you want age related then fitting shiny bits to a "patina's frame might look odd?

2..if your going to keep it cherish it and get it as near as new then this option..gill gets much of what he does pretty spot on but he's not the only one who does stickers so look around if thats the only thing worrying you

3..would be my option..build it up quick..ride and enjoy keep an eye out for a better one or consider option 2 in the summer

I've got plenty of bikes to ride and in an ideal world this build would be to rebuild one of the bikes I wish I hadn't sold, so if built up with the NOS kit would probably join my Yeti on the wall! I'm waiting to hear back from Gil on how exact we can replicate decals, that might make the choice for me.

Nice bike! I can tell it's a 95 by the black color around the Specialized. 96 where blue.

Will follow this built for sure.

You'll regret it its to much work to keep it looking good.

Keep it red, this is how I have mines

Right the flat and polish hasnt really made it any better so I'm still undecided...........the interesting news is that I've picked up an earlier M2 now that will be a lot easier to resto as its a 94 model and the decals are a lot easier to reproduce being plain yellow on red frame (will start up a build thread when Ive got some pics) I want to get this built up as a 'Ned' replica but does anyone know how to decipher the frame numbers, want to confirm its an S-works frame?
