i saw an advert at the local car boot on sunday stuck to a traders car. 2 x drop handle racers for sale. I asked the guy he said hes had them about 12 years (that sounds like 20 to me) ones his, ones his daughters both mens frames, both raleighs, both not used for years £20 quid the pair but i cant come round to get them until he has cleaned them! they have been garaged all their lives so no barn finds me thinks but he couldnt even remember the colours of the frames!
anyway picking them both up tonight, im hoping for 1 x raleigh record ace and 1 x raleigh centenary

any ideas of age history ect? I presume these are mid 80's gaspipe bikes but they kinda look nice and well worth the 20 I paid for them in my opinion. not what I was hoping for but not bad nonetheless

The Equipe is 1986/87 I think. Not going to make you a millionaire since they tend to go on eBay for about £50-£120. I've just bought an Equipe frame of the same vintage for a SS buld and although it is "gaspipe" I was surprised by how light it is. The steel wheels won't do it much favours either in speed or braking. Some alloy-rimmed replacements would liven it up, but the dropout spacing (on mine at least) is 120mm rear and 96mm front, which is a bit harder to match.

Edit to add: My Equipe frame came with a rear wheel. The freewheel on it was a Suntour "Perfect" 6-speed, which appeared to be one of their narrow-spaced "Ultra-Six" models specifically designed to be a straight replacement for a 5-speed block on a 120mm spaced rear wheel. Quite a useful thing to have.
