Lots of rust

I have a Marin Bear Valley which I got in 93'. I'd not seen it for over ten years, it's been in a shed and the roof has been leaking! It's pretty rusty but it just seems superficial, at the moment. How should I go about tackling the rust on the frame and forks?

Re:

My 94 Palisades was pretty rusty. I took the drastic route and stripped it. Wire brush in drill was the best tool.

Was a bit of a job... But very satisfying.

I had a little rust inside the frame. Used boiled linseed oil for that. Supposed to be an old school frame saver (they used it on planes).

Simplest is to dismantle it to a bare frame and forks and get it it powdercoated. The coater will blast it and coat immediately - this gives the best adhesion. Typical cost £50-70 or so. Gil_m on tihs forum can supply the decals.

It's a nice frame, worth saving. You will also end up with a cool custom paint scheme!

Thanks. I've been phoning around for quotes on blasting and powder coating, it's the best way to go. I'll have to have a look around for colour inspiration.
