Looking to replace a 90s 8 speed shimano cassette.

Any suggestions on a modern replacement for a 90s 9 speed shimano lx cassette.

I'm looking to go to 8 speed as I have a mint set of xt m739 brake lever/shifters.

Cheers.

Re:

Not sure if that 9 is a typo in your post, if you want an 8 speed cassette both the SRAM PG850 and Shimano HG41 are easily and cheaply available...

Sorry. It's 9 that's on the wheels at the minute on a 1999 Kona Caldera. I have 8 speed Xt m739 shifter/levers that a far better than those on the bike and thought sticking a new 8 speed cassette and the Xt stuff on the Kona would be better.

I'm sure an 8 speed cassette is cool to go on a 9 speed hub without a spacer.

I'll check those both out.

Thanks

Re:

I've got a new old stock 8 speed shimano, and a new sram 8 speed cassette doing nothing. Also some good used m737/9 xt ones if you are interested.

Re:

I've mounted a new Shimano hg41 chain and compatible 8 speed cassette a few weeks ago. Works fine. Check the front chainrings to be sure they work with the 8 speed chain.
