LOOK found a new bike shop

So minding my own business out on the bike I came across a new bike shop in a little village and as you do I popped in for a nosey. I recognised the chap from another bike shop and we got chatting. So I turned the conversation around to retro bikes and he tells me he has a couple of frames that he's selling on behalf of a customer one is a 56cm Joe waugh and the other is a 50cm LOOK KG227. I wasn't on the hunt for another frame but this just took my fancy so I made him an offer and went back and picked it up.


The plan for this will involve stripping my 531 Ribble of it's DA7700 group set and using it on the LOOK as these will tie in nicely together. Then sell the Ribble frame so I can get the 653 Ribble painted. I guess I'll have to ride my 653 Dave Marsh 7400 with it's Italian theme for the time being but you haven't seen that one yet

Picked up a set of 7700 DA wheels from SAMW on here which turned up this morning they were for the Ribble but hey plans change. They needed a set of skewers and low an behold I had a rear one the on the shelf just went on the bay and nabbed a front for £14 posted am a happy bunny I've had these Vittoria Techno Pros a while and now have found a use for them somethings are fated I'm sure. Cleaned the front just the rear now not a fan of cleaning wheels it has to be said

So me brakes turned up today all the way from France and I finally got to finish this off


Will be taking it out on its debut outing tomorrow which will give me a chance to fine tune riding position etc.
I had a weigh in with the Ribble just before I stripped it down and it came out at 10.7 kg and having weighed the LOOK was surprised to find a difference of 2.6kg. Not having ridden a carbon bike I'm eager to see the difference in my riding.

Nice, though (and I may well be mistaken here) are you sure it's not a KG221? I used to have one myself that was exactly the same as that and mine was a 221. Either way, bonded carbon main tubes, with alloy forks and lugs. Amazing bikes, considering how old they are. Managed to hit 50mph on mine and it still felt solid, well, maybe a little hairy...

It felt a bit hairy today down some of the descents not as planted as some of my steel bikes but did feel a lot better on the climbs, managed 45 mile with 3500ft of climbing and boy my legs ache
