While aero levers and clipless pedals were in common use by racers in the 80's, the L'Eroica (particularly the Italian original) is trying to capture the spirit and aesthetic of the days of Coppi and Bartali which was all about non-aero levers, toe clips, steel frames, etc. Here is some video of the Italian heroes.

What a great weekend!

I was so tempted to do the ride on my Great War bicycle in kit, but I bottled it ... :facepalm: (The centenary was a big pull to do it)

I didn't think I'd cope with the hills with all the kit and the trifle. I'd have died in full uniform too! Hats off to Pat :cool:
