Kronenbourg Peugeot esprit ?

Cs90

Retro Newbie
Recently picked up a Peugeot with kronenbourg beer stickers on the frame along with Peugeot sticker in light gold. Paint color is dark blue.

The sticker in the centre of the seat tube is essentially the kronenbourg logo with the words
"esprit du sport" in white writing.

Components seem pretty basic.

Pro max: adjustable quill stem, v brakes and brake levers.

Generic unlabelled chain ring, cassette, front and possibly rear derailer (looks like the sticker has washed away on the rear indicating the brand) .

Shimano 3x7 dual sis grip shifters
Unbranded plastic pedals
Unbranded straight ish bars with a very small rise and bar ends

37c Michellin tyres with partial brown sidewall (hybrid, city bike type)
With joined up writing that I can't determine if it just says Michellin or denotes the specific kind they are.

A Google search seems rather lack lustre in turning anything up in regards to information on it.

All I've found is 2 on FB posted by cycle mechanics servicing them in the last year or so.

1 on shpock for sale a while ago(app similar to gumtree)

A member on here briefly mentioned owning one in a thread nearly a decade ago and someone on a different Web site also mentions owning one quite some time ago as well but no real details as

I'm just curious as to whether anyone has any further information on it in regards to age, was it a promotional piece etc etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, this is a nice looking bike.
Just equipped with pretty cheap, low entry level components. The cranks alone might weight 1000g.
One may think it's older but my rough guess on basis of the type of cranks and brake / shift levers its from 1998-2000.
The threaded headset is very likely only been used to safe a few cents/pennies.

Cycleeurope is a big group and covers brands like Peugeot, BH (Spain), Bianchi, Gitane and others.
