Met Office Adviser":19ktennd said:Tomorrow (Wednesday) will see strong winds and some heavy rain spreading across the Uk from the west. Whilst Wales will take much of the impact of tomorrows weather system, it nevertheless will get quite wet and windy across Gloucestershire, West Mercia, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Midlands LRF/Police Force areas, - especially through Wednesday evening and overnight into the early hours of Thursday morning.
Whilst rainfall amounts don’t look to big - but the combination of a period of heavy rain and some strong squally winds touching 50mph will mean some very poor travelling conditions on Wednesday evening, perhaps some instances of surface water flooding, and perhaps some damage to poorly secured temporary structures and festive decorations, and maybe a few branches down.
There’ll be some quite breezy conditions around on Thursday too, and it will be noticeably colder, with rain and hail showers. Some of the showers will likely fall as sleet and snow as well, particularly across Staffordshire and Shropshire, perhaps even enough to give a slight slushy covering across some higher communities in Staffordshire for a short time.
We’ll see another very wet and windy spell of weather later on Friday and into Saturday, currently it looks as if the worst conditions will again be across Wales, rather than the wider West Midlands area, but the risk of travel disruption in particular is something to be aware of as we head into the weekend, particularly as the rain in Wales will continue to fall into the headwaters of the Severn and the Wye.
Unsettled conditions look like continuing into the Christmas week itself, certainly it will be wet and windy at times.
Currently Met Office has no warnings in place for wider West Midlands area but there are some yellow warnings in place for Wales and some other parts of England at
