Plus the tattered look tells a story (which was hopefully told from the previous owner as you paid for the bike). This is why I avoid re-sprays. The repro decals are never as good, and sometimes, completely wrong.
I think that's what makes it hard for them to reproduce the graphics because unless they actually have it in front of them and they can do the measurements they're mostly relying on customers giving measurements and colours. This is why I avoid re-sprays. The repro decals are never as good, and sometimes, completely wrong.
To be honest i didn't notice it myself and like you say it was until the two were together when i spotted it.Ah yeah I see it now. The Joe Murray and race light decal?
You’d never notice it if you only see each bike on its own, but I guess you can’t un-see it now !
This is SUCH a cool story!! What are the chances....Well for Me very slim living on the Isle of Wight getting my hands on something like this .Today is a very good day regarding the Peaty race bike, i'm buzzing
I thought with Steve Peat being really busy running the Santa Cruz team these days it would be very hard to get in contact with him for info about it so why not get in contact with Andy Manterfield instead after all he was giving the bike by Peaty. So i done some hunting on Facebook for Andy Manterfields and one popped up where i thought it has to be him, lives in Sheffield and on his friends list is Steve Peats brothers then further down the man himself.
I decided i had nothing to lose so sent him a nice message regarding the bike and if he could help.
So message sent and have just been waiting hoping he read it, well just checked my phone and he did read it and kindly replied back confirming it is his race bike and will now ask Peaty for more info on it. Honestly i'm on cloud nine at this moment lol to think i've finally got to own my favourite riders actual race bike which i used to look at in the magazines and dream of owning.
As i'm writing this it's giving me an idea for a separate build thread with Peatys bike and my original 93 Lavadome (Lazarus) and possibly the 93 Explosif for a cameo appearance because they're all interlinked in a way. One bike and person led to the other 93 Explosif which led to me owning and heavily modifying a 93 Lavadome.
Sometimes dreams do come true
I certainly am mate , it's mad to think i finally own the bike that the goat won the championship on. I will do a bit with the three bikes, Lazarus the Lavadome, the 93 Explosif and Steve Peats bike (as i'm writing this i'm thinking those three bikes are the ones in the collection i could never part with) I had a spell out from bikes from 91 to 93 until the 93 Kona range arrived then all of a sudden i had to have one again and it had to be a Kona, the rest is history lolThis is SUCH a cool story!! You must me grinning from cheek to cheek
I'm pretty sure amongst my stacks of MBUK mags from this era,I have seen Peaty on this explosif!?I certainly am mate , it's mad to think i finally own the bike that the goat won the championship on.
