Konas, lots of Konas.

I gave the bike a good scrubbing, sprayed it with WD40, took off the strange mudguards and I'm actually growing fond of the old girl. I think I have a crankset that will fit, some bog standard v-brakes and some stis (since nobody actually likes to ride with thumbies and they are worth more than the bike ;) ) Some decent wheels I have lying around waiting for a home and it will make a decent bike for someone.
I like the colour scheme too. Not my size though,18".View attachment 952121

That's the drive train sorted, wasn't happy with the shifters so they came off for a quick polish and swapped the top cap for a better one, now my ocd is calm again 😂
Thought i'd nick the 93 Kilaueas XT seatpost to try on with the Flite saddle, what a difference in my eyes think i'll loan it until the Kilauea is ready 😁 Don't know what other peoples opinions are but i think the XT seatpost is one of the best out there it just looks perfect on a bike.

Sorry to to intrude on your thread but just to complete the story of the rough Fire Mountain. The decision has been mad for me. When I had to break out the angle grinder there was only one way it would end.
One crankarm had a completely stripped thread so had to be cut off the BB axle. Then whoever decided that a plastic collar was a sensble way to thread in a BB needs shooting. The plastic completely disintegrated at the first turn. Then the other side of the BB is completely immovable even with an impact driver. So its bye bye Fire Mountain, hello dog collar, seat post clamp velocity stem and P2 forks for £30 plus postage. :)
