Does anyone know whether the steerer tube (below the threads) should be smooth or doesn't it matter?
Reason I ask is I recently had my P2's powder coated, they look great but the steerer tube is now a slightly coarse finish, due no doubt to the sand blasting process. Does the outer wall of the steerer actually come into contact with the headtube, or do the upper and lower bearing cups effectively keep it from making contact? If it does come into contact, will I need to sand it back with some fine wet & dry before re-assembly?
Cheers.
