Hi from Barcelona, Spain. I love your Kula build. It keeps the originals and takes modern concepts like the 1x transmission and short stem. I am sure you will have a lot of fun in the trails.
I started mtb on early 90' and I stopped about 2000. On 2022 I wanted to come back to the trails. Twenty years later, mtb's are soo different that I don't feel they match me, so I started searching something that I like, and then I fell in love with this kona kula (2000 I think) .To me,It's an amazing upgrade since it has disc brakes!
I put in a trusty rockshox Xc30, a race face 90mm stem, 670mm handlebar, crank Brothers pedals. It came with Hayes stroker carbon brakes... So powerful!
I keept the Xt Shimano 3x9 transmission as it works really well. Weight is about 12kg
I am enjoying more than ever in the trails.
It's a pity here not many people appreciate this bikes...
Enjoy your Kula!
Greetings from Barcelona
