Kona Hot Serial Number List - update 28/02/25

Hi there Elijah,

I read the e-Bay listing, and did wonder what is meant by “Tubing cut for a privateer in the Okanagan.”

All I do know is that Okanagan is a place 250 miles from Kona H.Q. in Vancouver, although Tom Teesdale who built the frame worked out of West Branch, Iowa, Idaho. I have a pre-season dealer price list for 1993 that documents that you could request a custom Geometry for the Hot that cost an extra $150.

Kona Hot TET 798! EBay find. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203352627551

Thank you very much Elijah. I will add this to the Serial Number List.

It is a 1993, and I am taking the first digit as a "7" despite being somewhat obscured by the Cable Guide in the picture.

Yep it is a 7 I decided to ask the seller. And he confirmed my suspicions

Also, I went to the lbs today to look for some retro parts for my kona hot build, turns out that someone had given them a try kona hot full xtr group, but the seatposg was seized bad bad, so they gave it away and parted it out, I'm going to try to reach out to the guy who got the frame, and see what I can do with it, supposedly it had a beautiful fade, short of it is, probably another one added to the list shortly, luckily I was able to snag the m900 XTR rear derailleur in a trade after the guy had already grabbed the frame... he just gets all the broken things from the bike shop.

Well done for getting hold a of such an early example - the 2nd earliest that we have seen:cool:.

I can add it to the Kona Hot Serial Number List, and look forward to seeing a thread in the Reader's MTBs --> 1997 section for some more pictures.

Many thanks,

Pip
