Kona Hahanna *Finished Pics*

Bit of a puzzle this one. They only used dropouts in that style in 92 and 93 and the head tube looks quite fat (i.e., the top tube looks quite thin), so I guess it must be one or the other of those, and fairly certainly the paint isn't original either way.

But the upper rack eyelets go from drilled/rivnut style in '93 to external braze-ons in '94:

So how about a late '93, early '94 model?

Yebbut.

Yours has the older style of cable routing (gear cables under the bottom bracket, "dog collar" cable guide, no rear brake cable stop, brazed on (not popped in) rack bosses ) and dropouts. I reckon yours also has a skinnier top tube and down tube, which is a feature mentioned in the Kona catalogues for older Hahannas.

I reckon it's either a '92 or a transitional '93-'94.

I don't think it can be. The dropouts and braze-ons are wrong.

Also has anyone noticed the 'Hahanna' decal is near the seat tube? Dont they usually put them near the steerer tube? - So could be a re-paint?
I'll measure the geo and get the frame number next week when she comes back from the powdercoaters.

Absolutely.

There's nothing wrong with it being a repaint - at least it means it was shot-blasted and de-rusted at some point, which is def a bonus.

I had a Hahanna in around 98/99. It was defo the same red. I loved that bike it was my first proper MTB. I used to be able to wheelie forever on that thing. I have a Kona Blast right now that feels pretty good too.

I had a full sus Orange 7+ that I just didn't really enjoy. I went riding today and could really feel how my weight was useful when moved around move. I pumped down a two step downhill line (downhill, flat, downhill) and pushed the bike forward on the second downhill and it flew.
