well, fire mountains and hahannas have a shorter top tube
anthony reckons it cant be a lava dome or cinder cone, and i like most, cede to his obsessive knowledge.
strip it to a bare frame and weigh it....

I'm sure you know far better than me young Keir the difference between the 96 Lava Dome and Kilauea top tubes, but here are two photos from my casual collection. Note how much the top tube wraps around the seat tube - a join between a 31.8 top tube and the 28.6 seat tube wraps around further than when you join the same size tubes.

And as you say, Surfr could measure the top tube c-c. A Kilauea size 16 should measure 540mm, a Fire Mountain or Hahanna 525mm.
