Anyone got any ideas what this frame might be?

These are the only pics I have and I do not have access to the bike.

It's obviously had a respray at some point, and looks to me to be mid 90s but I'm at a loss. What are the clues to look for?

judging by the dropouts i'd say a cinder cone at best, and mid 90's is about right - drops look very like my 1996 lava dome

So you don't think it's a 96 Kilauea Keir? Maybe the seat post of your 96 Kilauea doesn't have that shape at the bottom?

It's a size 16, it's somewhere in 94-96 and it has a 28.6 top tube. I thought the 96 Lava Dome had 31.8 top and down tubes. Maybe the Fire Mountain or the Hahanna had 28.6 top tubes that year I don't know.

something in me didnt click with it being a killer, i'm sure my killer has smoother dropouts.

Those dropouts are the same as the ones on my 95 Killer (though clearly if it is a Kilauea, it's not a 95 or earlier one, seat tube gives that away). When did the dropouts change?

i'll look at mine in the garage and check then post up from work. i may be wrong

well, fire mountains and hahannas have a shorter top tube

anthony reckons it cant be a lava dome or cinder cone, and i like most, cede to his obsessive knowledge.

strip it to a bare frame and weigh it....

Any idea on what parts are original? Looks like STX RC rear hub and QR...

Edit: Ignore that, I don't believe any Kona ever came with a rear wheel laced like that.

I'm just trying to think of other things that would help identify. Which bikes came with TB P2s in 96?
