Kona Explosif Cantilever problem

I recently started building up a 1990 Explosif. I purchased some XT cantilevers to put on there. I can’t fit them in the back. The posts are way to big. Posting pictures below of my break bosses, am I missing something?

Can I use the same levers for the u brake and the canti?

Yeah, same levers for both. I've got a goat with Canti's up front & a XT U out back. Same levers. Same with an old Mt Tam I had with Canti's up front and a suntour center pull. Both center pulls and 2 bolt u brakes used the same mounts.

May want to hold off for more replies but I'm pretty sure it's all good

Looks like your Explosif might be an older 89 version, or some sort of 89-90 crossover. Catalog specs for the 89 is U brake XT with U-II (some sort of brace) here's a pic, if you want to go catalog spec this is what you'll want. Yeah, I really don't want to screw this up again. So the brake bosses are in different areas of the frame for cantilever and u-brake, right?

Yes. U brake pivot point is different and a different size.

U brake pivot is above the brake blocks......cantilevers pivot below the brake blocks.....as seen in your picture.
