Thanks Anthony, may I Invite myself into your vast knowledge and ask Was it the Clear Dedisgned by Joe Murray decal, that gives my frame it's '92 age?
I gave her the old tapping accustic along the tubes which seems unchanging, not like a butted construction. The frame weighs 5lbs ish. Cheers
The lack of a brazed-on seat clamp combined with the geometry identifies it as a 92 frame. There is some confusion over the style of the rack mounts on top of the seatstays. Some people say that is a mark of the lower models, but I think in fact all Konas from the first part of the 92 model year had that style, but during the year they went over to fitting them in the stay itself, again on all models, so I don't think that helps. The style of the seat tube where it meets the bottom bracket shell seems to be the one that looks narrow from the side and wider from the front. That style is found on the Cinder Cone/Lava Dome, as well as the Fire Mountain and Hahanna. I think the weight of around five pounds pushes us towards the Cinder Cone/Lava Dome, as I believe the FM and Hahanna were the best part of six pounds at that time. [MTB builders started to get the light weight bug from 93 and 94 onwards, but in 92 they were still into strength.]

As has been said, the colour of the original paint could be significant. If it was black it tells us nothing, as all Konas were available in black as an option in 92. If it is dark blue, it is conceivably a purple Lava Dome, discoloured with age. The Hahanna was also dark blue in 92, but I think your frame is too light to be a Hahanna.

To my eyes, its black

I can still see a fluted seat tube tho... Froggy, is the seat tube round where it meets the bb shell, or is the tube profiled in an oval?

Pretty sure thats my old frame had a oakley sticker in the same place. I sold it about 3 years ago on ebay. If it is the same one it's a lava dome ;)

Pardon moi, slight confession, the weight is actually now closer to 6lbs, From all the excellent input on this forum, which has told tonnes of the life story of Kona MTB I am happy to come to the conclusion, by the process of elimination and assumption My frame is not US intented, I am the proud owner a robust Hahanna, my niece Hannah will be chuffed. Of to a VCC jumble in Navestock Essex in three weeks, hopefully there will be some nice lightweight componentry to secure:)
I shall ask the question to last owner as to if she came from ebay thanks
